Rockport

So we went to Rockport for Thanksgiving & my dad's 60th bday, the boys had a really great time. It was a long drive, but they did a great job in the car. We came home Saturday, thank goodness, we needed Sunday to recoop. We went to the Aquarium in Corpus & we went on the Lexington, an aircraft carrier. Both were pretty cool. There was a 150yd fishing pier in front of our hotel, so the boys were excited about that. I found a brace that fits around Jacob's hand brace, that he can slide his fishing pole into. That way it frees up his left hand to reel. I didn't really get to see him in action, but Brett was struggling with all 3 boys out on the pier so they didn't fish as much as they would have liked. Ryan made anyone need a Zannex (sp?) out on that pier. We thought for sure he was going in that cold water. It wasn't deep & he had on his life jacket, but no one wanted to get in after him. Luke did catch 4 fish out there one night! He was sooo excited. He even baited his own hook! With a live shrimp! Scary moment, when we left Rockport, we realized we needed gas. We forgot that there is pretty much nothing between Rockport & Victoria. When we started to get really stressed, we finally came upon a gas station. We literally ran out of gas right next to the pump. Whew!

Seems like time is flying right now, I can't believe it's December!! Brett & I are going to the Big 12 Champ game at the new Cowboys Stadium, or "Jerry's World" as Brett calls it, on Saturday. That should be a lot of fun. He's been for a Cowboys game, but I haven't. I hear it's impressive. I've got Luke's bounce house party planned & he passed out his invites today. He wanted the whole class, so we'll see how crazy that gets. I am doing it on his actual birthday, next Wed, so maybe being in the middle of the week, we won't have a huge turnout. Jacob wants bowling, so I think we'll do his that Friday that they get out for Christmas break, right after school. He's decided to invite only the boys in his class, so that should be fun for him. He's come so far socially this year, that I really want it to go well for him. I'm up at the school here & there & it seems that the kids really like him, they're very sweet to him. Ryan got in trouble today for telling his friends to shutup & calling them stupid, so I'm seeing some time out in his future. We did talk about it, & I talked to all 3 of them, so we'll see how that goes.

Some stories:
The other night, we went to dowtown Dallas for a Christmas lights thing. Turned out rainy & too many people so we didn't stay long. Anyway, I had dug out hats & gloves before I got in the shower. By the time I got out, Luke & Ryan both had hats & gloves on. No coats, but hats & gloves. Once we got in the car, I realized that it wasn't as cold as I thought. I told them they really don't need the hats & gloves, but I wanted to bring them just in case. Jacob says, "Huh, explains a lot." Really? It does?

Last week on the way to school, Ryan sees 2 ponds. He says, "Mama, I wanna go fish in that pond." At 8 o'clock in the morning?? This morning on the way to school, we passed Towne Square, which is totally done up for Christmas. Ryan says, "Mama, is it shwishmas today?" I said not today, but soon. We go on to discuss christmas, & decorations, & why all of the houses don't have decorations. He asks when we're going to do our house. I said maybe this weekend, to which he replies, "Oh yay! We get a schwishmas tree?" I say yes. He says, "With bobbers on it?" Could this child be anymore obsessed with fishing??

Our heater was broken last night, still is tonight as a matter of fact, but should be fixed tomorrow. Jacob was in my room at 3 am telling me he was cold, so I put some more clothes on him & another blanket. Ryan ended up in our bed with us. Luke managed to sleep through the cold, but when I woke him up for school (it was 64 degrees inside), he rolled over & said "I'm frickin' freezin'!"
