We had Jacob's ARD for school today and got wonderful news. Just in case you don't know how an ARD works, it's a meeting for Special Ed kids that involve the parents, any and all teachers or therapists that work with the student, a Diagnostician, and an Administrator. It's a meeting in which we all discuss what we need to add to Jacob's goals or any added support, or what we can be done with. We all had a meeting back in Feb to discuss what needed to be done in order to prepare for the ARD today. I hope that makes sense, lol. Anyway, we all agreed in Feb that all of the results from his testing back in Kinder were no longer accurate, therefore he was completely reevaluated, across the board. He has come sooooo far! He's not quite up to grade level, but has closed that gap tremendously! It's seems as though repeating Kinder was the right thing to do. He's not on age level, but close to grade level. They gave us a "sort of" IQ, but because of Jacob's struggle with "processing speed", no test can really be completely accurate. That being said, he did well. There's so much info, that I wouldn't even begin to write it all, but we are extremely happy about the results. He tested out of Speech, and will be getting only one OT session per week. This means more time in his regular classroom, which is great. He's talking to his teachers a whole lot more, and even got up in front of his class the Mon after Spring Break and very clearly and loud enough for the whole class to hear, told them he'd gone to Main Event. That may not sound like much, but considering Jacob's Kinder class didn't even think he could speak, it's a pretty huge milestone. We're just so proud of him and it was so nice to sit in a room and feel like everyone there truly cared about Jacob and his success. Oh, he's also learned to read. It's so wonderful to sit down with him and his book, and he can read it to us. :-)
We also had Miracle League opening day last Sat. Careflight landed one of it's helicopters on one of the baseball fields. The boys, and all of the kids, just loved it. Btw, we did get Jacob bigger baseball pants...... Lol.

Luke also started his baseball season and is actually starting to get the game. It's so cute to watch them go from little 3 or 4 yr olds and just running around trying to figure it all out, to 5 and 6 yr olds who actually look pretty good. He also had his first roller skate party on Sun, that was not so great. He just couldn't get the hang of it. I'm thinking we need to get him some skates for home so he can practice. He's sooo sensitive though. They had the kids put their Bluebell ice cream cups on their heads and put their hand up and say something. If your cup fell off, you had to get up and put it somewhere else (I don't remember where, but not the point, lol). So Luke's fell off and a couple of his friends told him and he started tearing up! He was trying so hard not to and not to let anyone see, but my goodness, we gotta toughen that boy up! He is really loving Kindergarten and doing a great job at learning to read as well. He also has his folder of books that he can read to us every night. He continues to be the caretaker of everyone, he even tries to "help" me discipline Ryan. I think he may just be a scientist of some sort when he grows up. He loves bugs, and "experiments", and rocks, etc. He's a cool little dude.

Ryan has grown up so much, AND I cut that long hair off. Now if we could just ween him off of his "yucky blanket". Oh well, I'm not really worried about it and neither is his Dr, so we're good. He's also playing baseball, just couldn't wait for that. Although the freakin games are at 8:15am on Sat. Ugh. We manage to make it though. Very funny stuff. If he doesn't get the ball, he's mad. Brett has to talk him down of the ledge several times, every game. He seems to be pretty competitive. He had a field trip to a farm last week so I went and took some pics. He's really loving school too. I only send him 4 days a week now and we both love that. I originally thought I'd be subbing a lot, but that hasn't worked out, so I keep him home one day a week to spend time with him. I'm fully aware that that window will be closed soon enough.
So life is moving right along, and everyone's growing up! Quickly.
Enough for now, but def need to blog more. More to come....
