changes

first i have to say that i gave Jack Jack to a friend last night. i was actually more sad than i expected to be. i found myself looking around for him last night & again this morning. i guess he was here for a year, so it will take some time getting used to him not being here. he's such a cute, sweet, loving little thing, i hated to get rid of him. it's better for him & us though. he made himself right at home at Chuck's house. i'm thinking once Cassie is gone, we'll find the right dog for our family.
in the mean time, i gotta take advantage of "de-stressing" my life. Jacob has tons of homework this year, i told Brett i'd better get my stuff done today while the kids are at school so i have plenty of time for homework! plus Jacob has swimming tonight, the other 2 in the morning, Luke has baseball practice tomorrow night, then Jacob & Luke's 1st baseball games are Sat. i've had people tell me that as your kids get older, it's not the same thing as having little ones, but it gets busier. A LOT busier. there's a guy at baseball practice trying to recruit Luke to his flag football team! so homework, swimming, baseball, & now football? plus i've been wanting to get Jacob into Karate sometime, but once the time is right. we've talked about doing karate in the fall & miracle league in the spring. maybe we'll start that next year, since baseball's already starting. and Ryan hasn't even started any of this yet! yikes!
actually, i look forward to it all. watching them grow & learn. Luke's already so serious about his homework. this morning he was finishing up his letter "A" homework. he asked for help, so i helped him a bit. then i left him to finish on his own. i put their stuff in the car & Ryan was climbing in, so i went back in to get my purse & coffee. Luke was on the couch in a complete meltdown. i finally got him to tell me what was wrong. he was terribly upset that he wasn't making his little "a"s right. he kept saying, "my teacher told me not to cross over the red line!" "i didn't do it right!" i sat down, pulled him into my lap, & explained to him that at 4, it's ok to not get it just right. i told him he had plenty of school & teacher's ahead of him, & that he would learn it as he grew. he just had to practice, & he would get better. i also said to just bring what he had done, & i would talk to his teacher when we got there. he walks out the door with me, wiping his tears away with his hand, & says "ok, but don't tell her i freaked out about it." smiling, i said, "ok, i won't." he said, "i can hear you" (meaning while i'm talking to her, he'll be listening....... )
