I know, I haven't posted in a while. Not sure why, other than making the time to do it. That dang Facebook already wastes my free time! Lol. We had a good Christmas, nothing too crazy. John & Amber were nice enough to keep the boys & let Brett & I go out to eat & finish a bit of shopping on Christmas Eve, a nice change of pace. The boys really got some great stuff this year, a lot of educational/crafty stuff. Jacob got a new Longhorn flag, a new TX flag, & clips for all of them. I think we now have all of his flags, flagpoles, clips, etc. squared away. I told him he was going to have to find a way to not obsess so much, or we were going to have to get rid of them. Luke told me, "Mom, you know Jacob sesses bout flags."
New Year's Eve was going to be fun, but that didn't work out. We were going to the deer lease to campout & stay in the RV. Well after completely packing, car running, boys in it, we realize that we can't find the keys to the RV. So, we stay home & have a very quiet, uneventful NYE. Not so bad actually, considering we've really slowed down life around here anyway.
They were all happy to go back to school. Jacob's reading & writing more & more all the time. It's so wonderful to have him read a book to me! It's sometimes a struggle, since he's tired after school, but we get through it. It seems as though he could possibly catch up to his peers, we'll see..... Luke's friend Kaitlyn was very happy to see him back. She's always watching the doorway when we get there. The first Tues, she said, "Hi Luke! I like your haircut!" Oh ya, Luke cut a chunk of his hair out, right in front, so I had to buzz his hair. Then Thurs, Kaitlyn said, "Hi Luke! I like your shirt!" She's so funny. I picked him up that first day back & asked if he was happy to see his friends. "Oh ya, & they were happy to see me." Amber is now one of Ryan's teachers, so I get a full description of his days, which is hilarious. He is definitely 2!! He's talking more & more every day & certainly attempting to establish his independence. I'm getting lots of screaming, hitting, & "No's!" Gotta love the toddler years!!
Luke & Ryan started Gymnastics on Wed mornings, which they both love. Luke came out that first day & said, "Oh ya, I like gynastics!" If you ask Ryan about it, he says, "jump, jump, jump" & starts bouncing all over the place. We started a new session of swimming this week & I finally don't have to be in the water with Ryan! What a beating! I would just end up completely soaked & worn out. He became so above the level of the class that we just kind of did our own thing, which meant a lot of jumping off the side, & a lot of splashing.
Well, looks like Jacob will be attending a camp for kids with disabilities this summer. I was at Kroger with all 3 boys & a lady stopped me & asked if my "little one" had had a stroke. She is a member of the Lion's Club, & they sponser kids at this camp in Kerrville every summer. Jacob heard her & just lit up! "Camp?!?!" I talked to him about it, we watched the DVD & I even explained that he would stay there without us for a week. He's all for it!! I think it will be harder on Mom than anyone! I'll keep you posted on that.
A few funny things:
Jacob & I were watching TV the other day & a kid on the show had a shirt that Jacob used to have. I told Jacob that & he said, "Ha, maybe he stole it!"
I was getting Luke Miracle Whip for his sandwich & we had 2 bottles for whatever reason. I said we needed to use one & throw them both away, because of the dates on them. He said, "We need to get new miracles at the store cuz these miracles are bout to get gross."
We finally found a small backpack for Luke's "stuff". He had been using this small canvas purse of mine. It has a longhorn on it, & doesn't look girly at all, but it's still a purse & he didn't "want people to laugh" at me. He has a toy cell phone, tic tacs, his Nintendo DS & it's cord, his MP3 player & cord, & a couple of other small toys. We got home with the backpack & he was filling it with everything from the purse & more. He said, "Oh ya, this thing is sweet!!"
I just told the boys that after this Spongbob, we were turning off the tv, okie dokie? Ryan said, "dokie okie." Luke is cutting out tattoos & putting them on his & Ryan's bellies. Ryan asked what one was & Luke said, "those are teardrops, they come out of your eyes when you cry." Ryan just came in & lifted up his shirt & said, "tattoos". Boys will be boys!
Ok, the TVs off, so I'd better go cook dinner! Oh, btw, we're selling that 1977 Chevy in our garage, if you know anyone who may be interested, let me know. Ttfn!
