Madness

I wanted to follow up on my last blog about Ryan's report card. Turns out, I talked to my neighbor whose son is in Ryan's class. She said the same thing happened to them. They had just conferenced in Nov and everything was great. Then she got the report card and it had all this negative stuff on it. She also said this is the first time they had sent home report cards, it was a new thing because of a new director. We agreed that our teacher just didn't realize that she was causing concern. A rule of thumb for teachers is never to just throw out negative. If you have to say/write something on the negative side, you always follow up with at least one postitive. The other side of this is- he's 5. This is not his Yale application. Ryan is going to be just fine, regardless of what his PreK report card says, lol.

Btw, homework time right after school is totally working out, and the farting at the table has subsided. :-)

This morning I let him sleep in because when I went to bed at 11:00, he was laying on my bed, awake. Odd. So he said he couldn't sleep, but I wasn't sure if he'd fallen asleep in his bed and had just woken up, or if he was awake this whole time. So I put him in my bed and went to my bathroom to get ready for bed. By the time I came back out, he was out cold. Anyway, I moved him back to his bed, but this morning thought I'd let him sleep just in case.
As we are getting him ready for school, I was talking to him about it. I told him I thought he had slept just fine, because he was acting so happy and didn't seem too tired at all. He looked at me and said, "That's just because I'm holding in all the madness." ;-)
