new idea

Luke got sick starting Wed night, then it passed to me, Ryan, and Kyle, yuck. Somehow Brett & Jacob were spared, so that's good. Dr said it was flu, but didn't actually test Luke, just a guess. The way it hit the rest of us makes me wonder because although we all felt like crap, we weren't just knocked down flat for days. Maybe just some sort of bug that holds on for a while with headache, fever, and congestion, sore throat, and just overall feeling run down. Everybody's pretty back to normal today, so that's good. Boys did have a 3 day weekend to keep getting well, so that worked out, although I sure was ready for everyone to be out of the house today, lol.
Looking into a new idea for Jacob, charter schools. I've been looking into them, and I can't believe I don't know more about them. Although I realized it's been 11+ years since I've actually been a teacher, so I'm a bit out of the loop to say the least. Seems like they are public schools, and are free, but are smaller and run more individually. It seems like it might be a better environment for Jacob, being smaller schools and smaller class sizes. When I found out that Jacob's Social Studies class has 32 students, I thought "no wonder" he feels "lost" in there, poor guy. So I'm looking into local charter schools. They seem to accept applications from certain school districts in the area, so I have to find one that is close and accepts our district, not all of them do. Looks like the issue is they have waiting lists. So I have to apply for him, then see if he gets picked in a lottery, generally. I've already applied to one, and I think I'm going to request a tour for another. Not sure if this is the answer, but definitely worth looking into. I'm not totally ruling out homeschooling, but it is a last resort. It's not that I don't think I could do it, it would just be hardest on me, and I know that. Jacob's behavior can be soooo difficult to deal with on a good day, so I have to make sure it works well for everyone involved. Maybe this charter school idea will pan out.
Ok, have a Ch to read for class tonight, and both rental properties need dishwashers, so on the dishwasher hunt, lol.
